(Seattle, WA) April 14 -- This Sunday, the members of Alleycat Acres are teaming up with OUT for Sustainability, a local nonprofit uniting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer community with sustainability. In celebration of the organization's second annual Earth Gay event, OUT for Sustainability will partner with Alleycat Acres and numerous volunteers to host an Earth Gay Crop Mob on the Alleycat's Beacon Hill Farm.

This event, one of four Earth Gay service projects planned for April 18, will take place on the Alleycat's Beacon Hill farm from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to find out more about what the organizations are up to, please stop by. At the beginning of the event, Mayor Mike McGinn will be stopping by to visit. The Mayor recently had this to say about the upcoming event:

"Integrating environmental action and social justice is critical for Seattle's future. OUT for Sustainability's success with Earth Gay in engaging the gay community with the environmental movement exemplifies the much-needed cooperation between our city's social and environmental groups. I'm inspired that in Seattle, on this 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, we have a group of people working well beyond their own issues, forming lasting partnerships that strengthen our city, and stepping up to the challenge of being stewards of our shared environment."

OUT chose to work with Alleycat Acres on this day because food systems is one of their major focuses, and it aligns with their mission to engage and mobilize the LGBTQ community to advance social and environmental sustainability.

To celebrate the day of service, OUT will host a community afterparty at Capitol Hill's Havana night club, free for volunteers or $5 donation, starting at 5 p.m. For more information visit OUT for Sustainability's website, www.outforsustainability.org.
