Fall/Winter 2009/10: Sean decides to take on a part time gig at Levi's, working with the Creative Service team. After thought and inspiration from his summer ventures, Sean sets out to work on an urban farming project.
January 2010: Sean & Tori meet, and along with 9 others, launch Alleycat Acres.
Summer 2010: Levi Strauss & Co. contributes $1,200 to Alleycat Acres. They also launch a campaign, highlighting the town of Braddock, PA. Additionally, the company invests over $1 million dollars to help re-invent the town. And Braddock Farms, where Tori volunteered at? Yep. They get a nice chunk of funds to help them grow forth. An email from Grow Pittsburg to Tori:
This past weekend Levi Strauss & Co. unveiled the latest installment of their "Go Forth" ad campaign entitled "Ready for Work". For this new campaign Levi's decided to partner with the town of Braddock, PA and feature its people and places in both print and video advertisements. We were extremely honored when Grow Pittsburgh's own urban production site, Braddock Farms, and our Braddock Farms Site Supervisor, Marshall Hart, were chosen to be featured predominantly in these ads.
By focusing on Braddock Levi's hopes to highlight the ingenuity and determination of a community working to revitalize a former industrial town that has fallen on hard times. In addition, Levi's has committed to investing over $1 million in the town of Braddock. We are pleased to announce that a portion of this investment will assist Grow Pittsburgh in expanding Braddock Farms in the coming year, allowing us to almost double the site in size.
Neat, eh? Check out the Facebook video Levi's just launched and of course, the Levi's website packed with information on the town & redevelopment.
