Thank you all for your interest in us and support throughout the year. 2010 was a great start for our organization! We accomplished more than we expected (2 farms, 800+ pounds of produce, over 200 volunteers contributing over 1700 hours of service... the list goes on!) and grew beyond our wildest dreams.
And, even though we aren't on the farms, we need your help still for planning out upcoming fundraiser. Here's what we're looking for
1. Soliciting donations:
- Food: We need gift cards donated from grocery stores to buy food for breakfast, lunch & dinner & all the snack stops along the route.
- A bicycle: We're really pushing to have a bicycle donated to us as a main prize for the ride.
And any other ideas that you have that may make a great prize for the awards -- gift certificates for coffee? year long membership to..? a dinner package? a year long metro bus pass?
2 + 3.
Coordinating opening/closing & securing spaces:
We need your help to sort through awesome lists of venues we can use for opening/closing for the ride. You need to look at all of these, juggle prices, etc.
Coordinating rest stops:
We need help with identifying 4 rest stops along the bike route; if we space each every 10-15 miles, that should be sufficient. You'd be responsible for contacting places (preferably free places) to see if we could set up a mini rest stop (think: access to restrooms a must!). 1-2 people could work on this together.
4. Volunteers for the day of the ride:Many different types of volunteer's needed:
1. Rest stop: Set up rest stop & check in riders: 2/3 per stop.
2. Lunch: 4 folks working the lunch stop
3. Route Markers: Route marking will be done the day before the event. Some parts of the ride require riding on trails. Signs will be placed every mile (assuming the stretch is a straight away); and at every turn. 4 folks to do this -- signs need to be checked out in the AM before riders leave to ensure that all are up as well.
4. Dinner/After party prep -- We need a good 5-10 folks who can help set up and coordinate the dinner afterwards.
