We're one of the featured organizations as part of the Seattle Foundation's GIVE BIG event - donations made through The Seattle Foundation's online Giving Center on June 23, 2011 between 7:00 a.m. and midnight will be stretched by $500,000, thanks to support for GiveBIG from The Seattle Foundation and local businesses.
We had a successful spring fundraiser -- and would love to keep the momentum growing. Since that awesome bike ride, we've:
- Expanded both sites, adding 4 new plots
- Installed a complete drip irrigation system in Beacon Hill
And are working on:
- Adding a new irrigation system to Central District
- Building a rainwater catchment system in BH
- Adding veggy washing stations at both BH & CD
- Shooting & editing videos on urban bee keeping & biosolid use
- Figuring out our next steps in new sites,
- And growth as an organization.
It's an exciting 2nd year to be hard at work. From farmer tans to mosquitoes, to strawberry stained tshirts and sweat stains from riding hard, work never ends. What's amazing is that more and more community support pours in & we're starting to see the results of what we set out to work on. Creating a community run farm from scratch is no easy task, but it's a task we believe in and will continue to do.
