At Alleycat Acres, we're an organization that exists for a number of reasons, powered by people (and bikes). To all of us, we see food as a powerful vehicle for change -- from both a social and environmental standpoint. And since 2010, we've partnered with a number of individuals, schools and community organizations to help construct 2 farms on land that would otherwise sit empty.
One of our guiding philosophies is that of Ubuntu -- an African philosophy that roughly translates to I Am Because You Are. And issues we see facing our farming counterparts across the globe are issues we also face here on the home front -- issues created because of the inequalities in the food system. Indeed, we are all in this together. And together we can make it change.
That's why on this years first National Food Day, we're forces with ONE.org, adding our voices alongside thousands more, in a collaborative effort to support global reform in the agricultural systems that govern the lives of many of farmers, like ourselves, across the world.
We're in it for the long haul. Are you?
